3 over 5, 1 over 5, and 5 over 8

This is how I earn a living nowadays. Paid by the day and paid by the hour.
3 days over 5 days a week - means a contract for 5 months but actually only 3 months will be paid.
1 day charged to another contract - means need to swiftly shift my brain cells to the other side any given day a week.
5 hours over 8 working hours - every Saturday til my brains cannot take it anymore. Remuneration equivalent to 10 over 100 of the other contracts but keep me sane and braincells alive.
If it is true that time is gold, does it mean that I am richer these days because I have more time?

Claims?

Image Source: Philippine Daily Inquirer (30 June 2008)
Thee may sound morbid but thy are instructions (family, friends, others) in case a similar fate befalls thee:
1. Thou shall not agree to any resettlement or waiver. Let the court decide the just and fair compensation;
2. Thou shall get the best lawyers for thee (c/o Cynthia's siblings and Milette G.). The remuneration can be covered by item (1); and
3. Thou shall not endevour to retrieve thy body. Thee rather be entombed in the sea and than be retrieved whilst no person can agnize thy body.

n_i_n_e_t_t_e has updated her Friendster Blog

Need magsipag. Need rumaket.
Pass to the consumer ang cost ng gasoline. Sige, ayaw mag-school service?
  • Unang milyones sa edad y trienta'y singko - in english first million at the age of 35. CASH. In tagalog, kash. In USDollars (pero realistic ako kaya in pesos na lang). Yup, O*N*E M*I*L*L*I*O*N C*A*S*H. Not in term of properties or assets. Basta cash sa bank. At sympre dapat wala din utang o liabilities.
Eksena sa Umagang Kayganda this morning: meron silang segment sa show kung san they get poor people and kung ano ano makabagbag damdaming kwento at makalubag loob na background music. Ang siste, a celeb or an ABS-CBN talent will donate something to swap for money/goods na kailangan ng (exploited) poor people. To make it mas nakakaawa natangay pa ni Frank ang bahay nila.
Ano ba?!?!
Ako lang ba ang hindi natutuwa?
Oo sige, may natutulungan ang show. Atsaka wala sila makita trabaho?
Even Bill Gates, nagpuyat at nalipasan ng gutom yan bago naging milyonaryo.
So bottomline... back to work. Neet to act for my first millon in cash.

Dear God Series 01

Am I my brother's keeper?

A saying from the Bible's story of Cain and Abel. After Cain had murdered his brother Abel, God asked him where his brother was. Cain answered, “I know not; am I my brother's keeper?”

Cain's words have come to symbolize people's unwillingness to accept responsibility for the welfare of their fellows — their “brothers” in the extended sense of the term. The tradition of Judaism and Christianity is that people do have this responsibility.

What is Plagiarism?

Plagiarism is presenting someone else’s work as if it were your own, whether you mean to or not.

‘Someone else’s work’ means anything that is not your own idea. Even if it is presented in your own style, you must still acknowledge your sources fully and appropriately. This includes:

  • material from books, journals or any other printed source
  • the work of other students or staff
  • information from the Internet
  • software programs and other electronic material
  • designs and ideas
  • the organisation or structuring of any such material.

Plagiarism undermines academic integrity simply because it is a form of lying, stealing and mistreating others. Plagiarism involves stealing other people’s intellectual property and lying about whose work it is.

Announcement - Chem Engg 32 (Industrial Stoichiometry) 1st Sem SY2008-09

As much as I would like to accommodate the requests for "prerogrative enlistment", I regret to inform students that UP policies need to be observed. Please proceed to the Chemical Engineering Department and ask Ate Pam for other open sections (a new one was created and as of June 5 2008, 25 slots are still available). Once this section (and others) are full, I may consider accepting "prerogs".

Will it be worth it? --- Part 1

An effort to practice "one carless day a week" by taking the MRT

A typical morning rush (GMA Station)

Find your own space, brace yourself and pray to survive

Frustrated riders --- because they were not able to (literally) push their way in the train? Very typical at the Cubao Station --- even at times when the coaches are not full, commuters from this station would still be pushing and gnarling at each other.

Still a long queue out...

Consolation for a 15-minute this-must-be-the-train-to-hell-loaded-with-people-believing-that-riding-the-MRT-gives-them-the-right-to-physically-hurt-and-verbally-abuse-others.

Ah, so delite-ful cheese!

SYNOPSIS
“PISAY”, directed by Auraeus Solito PSHS ’86, with the script written by Henry Grageda, PSHS ’86, a finalist at the 2007 Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, is a story about eight students who makes it to the premier science high school during the politically volatile 80’s in the Philippines as they come of age in a time filled with excitement, conflict and change.

These students find the world outside, with the chaos of the end of the Marcos dictatorship erupting into the People Power revolution in 1986, being replicated within the school as they struggle to graduate, contend with teachers, classmates, family, school officials, and a new classification system to segregate students into two groups based on their academic ranking. It chronicles their journey of self discovery as they go through the joys and pains of adolescence.

Adapted from real stories of Batch ’86, It tells of Rom, brilliant son of a fish vendor and an overseas contract worker; Wena, daughter of the landowning Ledesmas; Mat, the pudgy, amorous provincial champion who has trouble in math; friendly Minggoy, who always seems to get himself involved with everything; Liway, daughter of anti-dictatorship activists; Andy, the listless cadet military trainee; Daki, the science genius; and Euri, the boy with artistic flair trapped in a Science High School.

They were among the top two hundred students from all over the Philippines who passed the examination for the Philippine Science High School, which was created for the purpose of giving an education highly enriched in the Sciences and Mathematics to exceptionally gifted Filipino children. “Pisay” is the nickname created by the students to their school; an abbreviation of Philippine Science or Phil Sci. Selected from the best and brightest from all the Philippines, they endure college-level courses in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics. Those who can make it are hailed as the future science and technology leaders of the country, those who don't are deemed unfortunate victims of natural selection. Their stories are woven around the four years of veritably the most advanced curriculum in the country at the time - and their relationships with each other, their teachers, and ultimately, the school and its social milieu and the country. It speaks of choices the students have to make, priorities they opt to undertake and the realities of life they have to contend with.

How big are you?

Try to wrap your mind around this - it's rather dazzling to see it presented this way...

Beyond our sun... it's a big universe

Antares is the 15th biggest star in the sky. It is more than 1,000 light years away.

This is a hubble telescope ultra deep field infrared view of countless "entire" galaxies billions of light years away.

Below is a close-up of one of the darkest regions of the photo above.

Humbling, isn't it?

And how big are the things that upset you today?

Keep life in perspective. Be happy and don't sweat the small stuff!

Someday

by Nina

(Click to hear)

Someday you’ll gonna realize
One day you’ll see through my eyes
But then I won’t even be there
I’ll be happy somewhere
Even if I can’t

I know
You dont really see my worth
You think you're the last guy on earth
Well i’ve got news for you
I know I’m not that strong
But it won’t take long
Won’t take long

Coz someday, someone’s gonna love me
The way, I want you to need me
Someday, someone’s gonna take your place
One day I’ll forget about you
You’ll see, I won’t even miss you
Someday, someday

But now
I know you can’t tell
I’m down, and I’m not down anyway
But one day these tears
They will all run dry
I won’t have to cry
Sweet goodbye

Coz someday, someone’s gonna love me
The way, I want you to need me
Someday, someone’s gonna take your place
One day I’ll forget about you
You’ll see, I won’t even miss you
Someday, someday

Starting the Year Right

How To Receive An Avalanche Of Blessing This 2008 from Bo Sanchez

When God’s Blessings Come, Will You Be Ready? - Let me tell you a story.

One day, two middle-aged gentlemen were walking home.
All of a sudden, it started to rain. Really hard.
Because both of them didn’t have an umbrella, the two guys got soaking wet.
After a few minutes of torrential rain, the first man cursed.

“Damn you! What have I done? Why are you so angry at me?” he growled, hurling his fist to the sky. “Why are you punishing me? I’m minding my own business here, walking to my home, when You had to make it rain!”

But the second man’s response was totally different. He began to skip, dance, and sing like Gary V in a concert. “Yeepee! Life is wonderful!” he hollered.

With venom in his voice, the first man asked, “What are you so happy about? Can’t you see we’re wet as frogs in a swamp!”

The second man said, “My dear friend, I’m a farmer. The rain is nourishing my crops. I will have a bountiful harvest this year!”

It was the same rain, the same amount of water pelting their bodies, but the two men had two very different reactions.

Why? --- Because one person prepared for the rain and another didn’t.

Dear friend, in 2008, mark my word: There will be an avalanche of blessing that will flow into your life. Spiritual blessings. Financial blessings. Family blessings. They will pour like a rampaging river over you.

Will you be ready for their coming? --- If you won’t be ready, you’ll just curse.
But who will praise? --- The person who has planted great seeds in his life.
How will you do that? --- Here are the three kinds of seeds that you need to plant:

1) Plant seeds of Desire (which I call Soul Dreams)
2) Plant seeds of Belief (which I call Soul Declarations)
3) Plant seeds of Action (which I call Soul Deeds)

I’ll talk about these three powerful seeds in three separate E-books which I’ll be giving to you this year—for FREE. You read that right: “which I’ll be giving to you.” Yes, I really will give you three E-books for free in 2008.

In my next emails, I’ll be talking more about my first E-book, entitled, How To Make Your Dreams Come True (Part 1: Soul Dreams).

Watch for it.

It will change your life.

I remain your friend,
Bo Sanchez
