3 Ways to Handle Haters

In life there’s no avoiding getting haters. We all have our own world views and most of the time those differences will lead to clashes and conflict. It’s even more evident today with the rise of blogging and social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. ...Here are three tips that I’ve followed and learned through the years that you might find helpful. --- Carlo S. Ople (http://www.carloople.com/)

1. Ignore them.

If there’s one thing you have to understand about haters is that they do not criticize, they attack. They take pleasure in putting you down. There is absolutely no point in trying to engage with them (especially online) because they’ve already made up their mind to shoot you down with their AK-47 even before you raise the flag for parley, lol.

Remove them from your immediate consciousness because they will just wear you down and cause undeserved stress. They can distract you from doing what you’re supposed to be doing. Remember: you can never please them or satisfy them.

What about the feedback that they give? If you have the strength, patience, and will power to see through the hate and find the nuggets of wisdom, then go for it. If not, don’t worry. You can always get feedback from non-haters and it will just be as good, if not better.

HOWEVER, if the time comes that there is a genuine window or opportunity for you to work with them and settle your differences, go for it. Take the initiative and be compassionate.

2. Focus on the work at hand. Keep shipping. Best defense is success.

If you’re worried about them tearing down your reputation then let me share one piece of advice that one of my mentors once told me: the hardest thing to argue against is success. If that’s the case then instead of giving your haters the time of day, focus on your work and in delivering successful products or campaigns.

If you’re just starting out, build on the little successes and let it feed your psyche so that you have the confidence, strength, and determination to follow through. Use your failures as a reminder so that you are more cautious and so that you don’t miss the important little details.

3. Spend more time with the people who really matter to you.

The worst thing you can do is get affected by haters and bring that negativity home to the people that truly matter to your life. Don’t get affected. If ever you do, cast it out before you go home. Draw strength, inspiration, and joy from the love of your family and real friends.

Most importantly, pray for grace. You will not be able to do this on your own.

Don’t get affected. Don’t get infected. Don’t spread it.

Focus. Ship. Love.

Break-up Recovery Pointers

1. Don't ever be sorry for being sad. And don't apologize for crying - what you are going through is completely normal and healthy.

2. Don't bother asking why.

3. Whatever you do, don't listen to any sad songs or music. It will only make you feel worse.

4. Beauty may only be skin deep and true beauty might lie in the soul, but it doesn't hurt to have your outsides looking good when your insides are badly bruised.

5.Don't be bitter.

6. Travel, or go somewhere you've never been. You need to get away from your immediate surroundings and realize that there is huge world out there with endless possibilities and billions of people that you've never met.

7. When you lock yourself in your room - miserable and weepy - the space picks up the negative energy and your room becomes a depressing place to be. You need to let out the sadness and allow some new air in.

8. Find a new passion.

9. Sometimes if you are having difficulty coming to terms with something, all you need to do is to take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

10. Being single doesn't have to be about being alone.

Achieving Healthy Emotional "Closure" When Relationships End

by Rachel G. Baldino, MSW, LCSW for www.SixWise.com

Any useful discussion about achieving "closure" at the conclusion of a relationship or friendship should start with a solid working definition of the term "closure."
For our purposes, think of "relationship closure" like this:
A person has achieved relationship closure when, following the ending of a romantic relationship or friendship, she feels that all of the final emotional "loose ends" have been tied up to her satisfaction, and there is no remaining "unfinished emotional business" that she needs to take care of before moving on with her life.
Achieving relationship closure is not always an easy task. In fact, I would venture to guess that, for a variety of reasons, far more relationships end without proper closure than end with it.
For example, some romantic relationships end without proper emotional closure simply because one of the partners refuses to engage in one last "loose-end-tying-up" conversation. Perhaps the idea of having such a soul-searching conversation is too daunting at the emotional level, and the person simply does not want to "go there," maybe for fear of opening old emotional wounds.
Just as we are always asking our politicians to hold themselves "accountable" for their decisions and actions, it is also a good idea to hold our partners and ourselves "accountable" for our own decisions and behavior in our relationships. This is one big reason that working to achieve healthy closure at the end of dating relationships (and friendships, too), is so important for the emotional health of everyone involved.
An effective closure conversation enables both partners to say goodbye and move forward.
In this helpful Dating Tips advice column published on OnlineDatingMagazine.com, the column author, who is simply referred to as "The Dating Tipster", offers the following useful anecdote to describe a great example of healthy relationship closure:
"I once dated a wonderful woman, and we had an absolutely great connection. However ... there were things within the relationship that prevented it from moving to the next level. The breakup was very hard on both of us.
"Nearly two years after the relationship had ended, I received a phone call from this person. She wanted to see me. I agreed. We met and had a good conversation, but that was it. She had just been proposed to and needed to see me one last time in order to bring closure to our past together. At the end of our meeting she gave me a strong hug that lasted for over a minute. That's all she needed to say her final goodbye and move on to a new chapter of her life.
"If you feel you need closure then go ahead and request a meeting in order to bring that closure you need and to say your final goodbye. When you're done, move on with your life. Yes, you'll still think of him because deep down there is still something there. That is normal. But the closure may help you move on."
What I particularly like about the above anecdote from OnlineDatingMagazine.com's "Dating Tipster", is that both parties were so open to the idea of meeting one final time to say their last goodbyes. In agreeing to have such a meeting, they were both acknowledging several important fundamental truths about human relationships, including the following:
The relationship that the two of them had shared had mattered a great deal to both of them. They had once been very much in love with each other, and while this was no longer the case, by agreeing to meet for one last time, they were each acknowledging the important places that they had once held in each other's lives.
This mutual acknowledgment of the intrinsic value of their shared history constitutes a deeply reverential, humane, compassionate and caring act. Agreeing to have a conversation about closure tells the other person that while the romance has cooled, you still respect them and care about them as a human being and wish them nothing but the best in the future.
Officially saying goodbye can feel downright liberating. In agreeing to formally say goodbye to that particular shared chapter of their lives, they can now feel free to start the next portion of their lives with a clean slate, free from any "chains to the past" that might otherwise hold them back from allowing their next romantic relationships to reach their full potential.
There is an inherent value in rituals of all kinds. We have rituals for weddings and graduations and funerals, and all kinds of other life milestones. Indeed, human beings have long enjoyed and benefited from the public acknowledgment of the most important moments in our lives. And I believe that this innate desire for ritual, or for the official marking of an important occasion, which many, if not most, human beings share, is one of the reasons that so many of us crave a sense of closure when our relationships come to an end.
How to Have A Healthy "Closure" Conversation:
A respectful, compassionate closure conversation can be sad but also liberating.
Here are four important components that should be present in any type of conversation about relationship closure:
First, it's actually good idea to state out loud that the two of you are about to have a "closure conversation," and that this is a sad and difficult task, but it is also necessary and useful.
When the two people involved actually acknowledge that this is a conversation specifically about closure it can help both individuals to set healthy parameters about what it is appropriate or inappropriate to discuss. Also, it allows both partners to think of the conversation as an official goodbye talk, which is intended to enable them both to move forward as soon as the conversation is over.
One or both partners may want to reminisce a bit about some specific good memories in the relationships, and it is usually a good idea for both parties to honor this desire, because it is a tacit way of communicating that: "We may not feel exactly as we once did about each other, but we sure have had some fun together in the past."
One or both partners may want to talk about what the other person has meant to them, and they may even want to state out loud exactly what each other's best qualities are.
During a closure conversation, there may be a temptation on the part of one or both partners to talk about the other person's negative qualities, or to discuss all of the things that went wrong with the relationship, but this is generally not a great idea because it can lead to a fight, which is not at all conducive to achieving genuine relationship closure.

Four Possible Obstacles to Having An Effective "Relationship Closure Conversation":
If one partner is still holding out the hope that the relationship could potentially resume.
If, for some reason, one partner refuses to meet with the other to have a closure conversation.

If one partner does not return phone calls or emails from the other to arrange a closure meeting.

If both partners do agree to meet, but one of them only wants to use the time to fight and rehash old issues, rather than using the opportunity to work toward achieving genuine relationship closure by tying up any emotional loose ends in a rational, compassionate manner.

n_i_n_e_t_t_e has updated her Friendster Blog

Need magsipag. Need rumaket.
Pass to the consumer ang cost ng gasoline. Sige, ayaw mag-school service?
  • Unang milyones sa edad y trienta'y singko - in english first million at the age of 35. CASH. In tagalog, kash. In USDollars (pero realistic ako kaya in pesos na lang). Yup, O*N*E M*I*L*L*I*O*N C*A*S*H. Not in term of properties or assets. Basta cash sa bank. At sympre dapat wala din utang o liabilities.
Eksena sa Umagang Kayganda this morning: meron silang segment sa show kung san they get poor people and kung ano ano makabagbag damdaming kwento at makalubag loob na background music. Ang siste, a celeb or an ABS-CBN talent will donate something to swap for money/goods na kailangan ng (exploited) poor people. To make it mas nakakaawa natangay pa ni Frank ang bahay nila.
Ano ba?!?!
Ako lang ba ang hindi natutuwa?
Oo sige, may natutulungan ang show. Atsaka wala sila makita trabaho?
Even Bill Gates, nagpuyat at nalipasan ng gutom yan bago naging milyonaryo.
So bottomline... back to work. Neet to act for my first millon in cash.

How big are you?

Try to wrap your mind around this - it's rather dazzling to see it presented this way...

Beyond our sun... it's a big universe

Antares is the 15th biggest star in the sky. It is more than 1,000 light years away.

This is a hubble telescope ultra deep field infrared view of countless "entire" galaxies billions of light years away.

Below is a close-up of one of the darkest regions of the photo above.

Humbling, isn't it?

And how big are the things that upset you today?

Keep life in perspective. Be happy and don't sweat the small stuff!

About Men

Advice from Oprah about men

If a man wants you, nothing can keep him away.
If he doesn't want you, nothing can make him stay.
Stop making excuses for a man and his behavior.
Allow your intuition (or spirit) to save you from heartache.
Stop trying to change yourself for a relationship that's not meant to be.
Slower is better.
Never live your life for a man before you find what makes you truly happy.
If a relationship ends because the man was not treating you as you deserve then heck no, you can't "be friends".? A friend wouldn't mistreat a friend.
Don't settle. If you feel like he is stringing you along, then he probably is.
Don't stay because you think "it will get better."? You'll be mad at yourself a year later for staying when things are not better.
The only person you can control in a relationship is you.
Avoid men who've got a bunch of children by a bunch of different women. He didn't marry them when he got them pregnant, why would he treat you any differently?
Always have your own set of friends separate from his.
Maintain boundaries in how a guy treats you.
If something bothers you, speak up.
Never let a man know everything. He will use it against you later.
You cannot change a man's behavior. Change comes from within.
Don't EVER make him feel he is more important than you are... even if he has more education or in a better job.
Do not make him into a quasi-god. He is a man, nothing more nothing less.
Never let a man define who you are.
Never borrow someone else's man. If he cheated with you, he'll cheat on you.
A man will only treat you the way you ALLOW him to treat you.
All men are NOT dogs.
You should not be the one doing all the bending...compromise is two way street.
You need time to heal between relationships...there is nothing cute about baggage... deal with your issues before pursuing a new relationship.
You should never look for someone to COMPLETE you... a relationship consists of two WHOLE individuals... look for someone complimentary...not supplementary.
Dating is fun... even if he doesn't turn out to be Mr. Right.
Make him miss you sometimes... when a man always know where you are, and you're always readily available to him - he takes it for granted.
Never move into his mother's house.
Never co-sign for a man.
Don't fully commit to a man who doesn't give you everything that you need.
Keep him in your radar but get to know others.

Share this with other women... You'll make someone smile, another rethink
her choices, and another woman prepare.

We could learn a lot from crayons:
some are sharp, some are pretty,
some are dull, some have weird names,
and all are different colors....but
they all exist very nicely in the same box.

26 Things That A Perfect Guy Would Do...

1. Know how to make you smile when you are down.
2. Try to secretly smell your hair, but you always notice.
3. Stick up for you, but still respects your independence.

5. Come up behind you and put his arms around you.
6. Play with your hair.
7. His hands always find yours.
8. Be cute when he really wants something.
9 . Offer you plenty of massages.
10. Dance with you, even if he feels like a dork.
11. Never run out of love.
12. Be funny, but know how to be serious.
13. Realize he's being funny when he needs to be serious.
14. Be patient when you take forever to get ready.
15. React so cutely when you hit him and it actually hurts .
16. Smile a lot.
17. Plans a romantic date full of cheesy things he wouldn't normally like to do, just because he knows it means a lot to you.
18. Appreciate you.
19. Help others out.
20. Drive 5 hours just to see you for 1.
21. Always gives you a peck on the cheek when you depart from each others company, even when his friends are watching.

23. Have a sense of humor
24. Stare at you.
25. Call for no reason.
26. Quit smoking, drinking, chewing or drugs - just because he loves you.

10 Signs He's in Love

Taken from: iVillage - Understanding Men/What He's Thinking

You've dated your fair share of women and have always enjoyed keeping your options open, but lately there's this one woman that has you wondering if she's "the one." In order to help you figure this out, Askmen.com have compiled the following list of the top 10 ways to know you're in love.

10. You've forgotten your ex - More often than not, a breakup is followed by a significant amount of time spent thinking about your ex and wondering whether or not you made the right decision in going your separate ways. Depending on how long the two of you were together, these doubts can resurface again and again.

Ever since you met this new one, however, the thought of getting back together with your ex is the furthest thing from your mind. Come to think of it, you barely recall what you found so great about her in the first place.

9. You can't stop thinking about her - Instead, you are consumed by thoughts of her. She just pops into your head for no apparent reason, and you wonder if she thinks of you half as much as you think of her. You wonder what she's up to and even consider calling her (but refrain from doing so for fear of looking overeager).

But it gets worse. You're out with your friends and you see something in a shop window and think about how much she would like that particular item, or you notice a poster for a show that she would love, but normally wouldn't even have looked twice at it.

If she's the last thing on your mind before you go to sleep and the first thing on your mind when you wake up — and you've even dreamed of her on a couple of occasions — then you don't really even need to read on to know if you're in love (but should anyway, just to be sure).

8. You care about her - There is a reason why you don't really want to know too much about the chick you had a one-night stand with: You don't love her. When you're in love with a woman, you want to know all about her: who she is, what she thinks, what makes her laugh. You truly care about her and her feelings.

If you truly love a woman, you feel bad if she had a bad day or is upset about something. You don't try to cheer her up because you have to, but because you can't help it.

7. You find her quirks charming - The fact that she carries her passport with her everywhere she goes — just in case — and that, when she's eating, she can't help but construct every forkful so that it's the perfect blend of ingredients fills you with an inexplicable feeling of happiness.

She does and says things that make her different, and you like it. You can't quite put your finger on why, but it doesn't even matter. You like her just the way she is.

6. You have great chemistry - You can't be in love with someone that you have no chemistry with. If you seem to always be on the same wavelength, and think in similar ways, that's a great sign. If you also generate enough heat to set off a five-alarm fire bell, then she is probably someone that you could fall in love with, if you aren't there already.

5. You don't notice other women as much - Did you see that gorgeous woman that just walked by? What do you mean, "no"?!?

Although you can't help noticing a beautiful woman when one walks by, when you're in love, some of them tend to slip under the radar, while others just pale in comparison to her. Furthermore, you don't seem to be flirting half as much as you used to.

You are slowly realizing that she's often the only woman in the room that matters, and for some reason that suits you just fine.

4. You love spending time with her - This one is pretty obvious but important nonetheless. You look forward to seeing her, and don't care much about what the two of you will be doing. Lately, just going for a walk with her sounds like the best way you could possibly spend an evening.

Furthermore, when you're not together, you miss her and wish you were spending time together.

3. You don't mind compromising sometimes - There was a time when it was your way or the highway, but with her it's different. Not that she asks you to, but you don't mind missing a night out with the guys to be with her. And you find yourself trying to incorporate her into your plans or altering them to accommodate her.

You also find yourself not putting up a fight when she wants to go to Shakespeare in the Park. Although your friends find this very amusing, you know that deep down, they wish that they had found a love like yours.

2. Other priorities take a back seat - You used to train religiously, but lately, if she's free for dinner, you don't mind missing a workout. Not only that, but your workaholic tendency of bringing home your work on weekends to get ahead seems a bit excessive to you as of late.

Your ever-important "to do" list seems quite stagnant these days, as being with her always manages to render your other plans and obligations obsolete. What was it that you absolutely had to do by four o'clock again?

1. You start thinking about the future and she's in it - It used to be that the future with a woman meant your date on Saturday night, but with this woman, the future seems infinite. Not only do you plan to see her this weekend, but you want to see her a year from now as well.

When planning your next vacation, you know you want to spend it with her, and not a random beach bunny you happen to meet while you're there. And when you get an invitation to a wedding that takes place three months from now, you ask her to be your date without thinking that it's too far away to tell if you'll still be together.

She's the one

If you are currently dating a woman that makes you act in any of the ways mentioned above, then you, my friend, are seriously falling for her. It's time to put away the little black book for a while and enjoy the ride.

He "loves you" but he is not "in love" with you...

Taken From: iVillage - Understanding Men

What does it mean when a guy says he "loves you" but doesn't think that he's "in love" with you?

Mr. Answer Man of Askmen.com says: It means that he needs to grow a spine.

Quibbling over shades of definition is one of the unfortunate things guys do when they're ashamed of their feelings, in this case being afraid to tell the hard truth that he's not in love with you. Worse still, it often occurs when a man is trying to have his cake and eat it too, e.g., stay in a relationship while not allowing it to advance beyond his current comfort level.

The antidote to such doublespeak is to hit it with a little truth of your own and then see what that reveals. If his philosophizing on "love vs. in love" were met with, "Fine. Call me when you're in love," Mr. Wishy-Washy might find his backbone pronto. And if the call never comes, so much the better -- you're now free to find a man who loves you enough to be in love with you too.

A reason, a season or a lifetime?

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered
and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant .

Thank you for being a part of my life, whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime.

Relationships take time and effort, and the best way to spell love is T-I-M-E because the essence of love is not what we think or do or provide for others, but how much we give of ourselves.
